Traditionally the Willems winegrowing estate is led by the women of the family and now with Carolin, the fifth generation is keeping the tradition alive. After marring a fellow winemaker, the brilliant Jürgen Hofman, the both estates have come together. But it is still Caroline running her own estate and making the wine herself. The wines have a modern style but are very typical of the Saar region at the the same time. The Saar Region is known for its red and blue slate and the result of this is a unmistakable blend of stony minerality, smokiness and sophisticated fruit. Caroline produces just incredible Rieslings. Especially the off-dry and naturally sweet Rieslings are exceptionally balanced and wonderfully playful at the same time.
