Karl May

The wine estate Karl May is situated near the river Rhine in the southern part of their German wine growing area Rheinhessen and the family May has been making wine here since 1815. The brothers Peter and Fritz May are now the new generation in charge at the winery Karl May and in their eyes, a healthy future for the vineyards can only thrive from respect and protection of the soil, climate and vines. Since 2007 they have incorporated ecological guidelines and shifted towards environmentally friendly winemaking​, which means no use of chemical pesticides and other synthetic products. Once the wine is in the cellar the May brothers let the wine ferment in a natural way and give the wine the time it needs to develop peacefully and quietly. We are very happy that the Mays are so patient and treat their wine with so much respect and the results really pay off.
