Martina and Jörg have been running the family winery in Wolfsheim in Rheinhessischen since 2015. The love of nature is the focus for young winemaker Martina and her father Jörg, which is why the Bernhard family operates their entire vineyard according to environmentally friendly guidelines and pride themselves on being certified sustainable. Martina takes the natural approach for everything, even giving nature the upper hand when working in the cellar: so all of their wines are fermented spontaneously. The aim is to embrace and bottle the unique terroir of Wolfsheim, such as the chalky soil and windy, cool-climate which give the wines their unadulterated, strong character. And the result is exciting and expressive wines. Taking it even further, all the grapes are picked by hand so only the best grapes end up in the bottles. Martina is only in her mid-twenties but this young women winemaker shows that she not only has ideas but that she can also implement them flawlessly. We are excited to see what she comes up with next!
