Autumn Cocktail Recipes

Hallowine Cocktails

It's officially Autumn in Hong Kong, and that means it's time to put your shorts aside, dig out your sweaters, and come up with a clever costume for Halloween! And what a better way to celebrate the season than to add a little Autumn and Halloween to your drinks? Especially since those yummy seasonal ingredients like apples, blackberries, cinnamon, and plums make for some pretty bomb cocktails.

We've all seen those pumpkin spice inspired cocktail recipes that are complicated to make and really end up being more of a dish than a drink. And while a sugar coma-inducing drink is nice sometimes, we'd prefer to enjoy some of those fresh seasonal fruits and spices - in a cocktail glass of course. So we challenged the WM cocktail team to come up with some original Autumnal drink recipes to give you all the ~fall~ vibes. So today we're making two cocktails: the Hallowine Blackberry Sangria and a witchy Spiced Lemongrass & Gin Brew. Both drinks utilize fresh fruits for a punch that's perfect to share!

Here's what you need:

- 240 ml Heimat Dry Gin
- 1 Can of Tonic Water (200ml)
- 700 ml fresh Lemongrass Brew
- 100 ml fresh lime juice
- 240 ml cinnamon clove simple syrup
- Cinnamon sticks and lime slices for garnish

Lemongrass Brew: for best results, we recommend getting fresh lemongrass (3-4 stalks) from your local fresh market to make this brew. Start by breaking up the stalks and placing them into a heat-safe bowl or pot. Boil 3 cups of water and pour over the lemongrass stalks. Let the brew steep and place in the fridge until chilled.

Cinnamon and clove simple syrup: add 240 ml sugar, 240 ml water, 6 ml whole cloves and 6 ml ground cinnamon in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat until reduced. Strain the mixture and set aside to chill.

In a pitcher, add the Heimat Dry Gin, lime juice, tonic water, and chilled Lemongrass tea. Finally, add in the syrup mixture and stir everything together. Pour into glasses filled with ice and garnish with a cinnamon stick and lime slice.

    Here's what you need:

    - 750 ml La Maldita (Garnacha)
    - 5-6 Small Plumcots
    - 60 ml Brandy
    - 450 g Black (or Red) Grapes
    - Sparkling Water (optional)

      I N S T R U C T I O N S :

Slice the plumcots into small chunks. Add the blackberries, grapes, and plumcots into a pitcher. Then pour in the brandy and the La Maldita red wine and stir it all together. Let the mixture sit in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours. After the mixture sits and then add sparkling water if the taste is too strong. Serve in a wine glass.

      Blackberry Sangria

WM Tip: we're impatient and had the sangria without letting it sit for the full two hours... While it was good, we tried the sangria again after letting it sit and it absorbed the dark fruity flavours so much more. Don't be like us. Be patient and actually let the mixture chill for the full 2 hours. We can promise you'll thank us later. ;)
